Fulcrum of History
Keywords:
History, Culture, ChangeAbstract
Throughout the history of mankind, there have been revolutions. The use of flint as cutting tools, the discovery that irrigation could multiply the productivity of land which led to the growth of cities, steam, iron, electricity and most of all the electron which enables us to communicate with each other, first by telephone and latterly by computers and mobiles. All of these took time to effect changes, often centuries. In contrast, the cultural changes we are now seeing will take only months. Just as in the West the past is dated as BC or AD, we will refer to BV, before virus and AV, after virus to record the rapid and dramatic changes which the virus will wreak.
